Ochre Restaurant has been involved in catering and or event management at these venues since 1994 and has a good working relationship with the management or venue owners. Options are only limited by imagination and a surprising range of budgets can be catered to. It doesn’t stop there; we have used many other venues that suit smaller groups such as beach fronts, private homes, charter boats, rainforest sites, outback creeks, dams and private properties. Our beautiful waterfront restaurant is available for exclusive use and can be tailored to a variety of themes.
Five star lunch and dinner accompanied by top Australian wines. Seating for up to 150 people inside and outside with dance floor and welcome cocktail space.
A cost effective alternative to our off site options for conference, incentive and discerning groups.

Located on the ground floor of the Harbour Lights Hotel, The Catalina Room offers the ideal location for small to mid-sized meetings, weddings and events in Cairns. Accommodating up to 80 people in a variety of function layouts, The Catalina Room is an elegant venue that combines modern facilities with beautiful design.

Versatile and well-appointed, this event space features plenty of natural light, Wi-Fi access, and a range of presentation equipment. AUSTRALIAN ARTILLERY & ARMOURY MUSEUM

Opening in September 2014, the Australian Armour & Artillery Museum is the largest museum of its kind in the southern hemisphere and is dedicated to the collection, preservation, restoration and display of Armoured Vehicles and Artillery from the 1800’s to the present day. Their collection currently consists of over 150 pieces including tanks, armoured personnel carriers, anti-tank vehicles, anti-tank guns, anti-aircraft guns, field guns, howitzers, self-propelled guns and specialist vehicles. If you are looking for a completely unique location for your event, the Australian Armour & Artillery Museum will certainly give you the ‘bang ‘ you are looking for. 15 Minutes from Cairns CBD suitable for seated dinners to 600 pax and cocktail parties or food station events to 2000 pax.

CAIRNS CRUISE LINER TERMINAL – CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE

The Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal is a very unique venue on the waterfront in Cairns, painfully restored; the process has transformed the heritage listed wharf shed, over 100 years old, into a modern facility designed with operational practicality in mind, yet retaining the history of the yesteryear.
The Cairns Cruise Terminal is located only minutes walk from the major city hotels and Cairns Convention Centre. Aside from the stunning water views across the Trinity Inlet, this prime location makes it an ideal venue for themed events, large catering options, or that extra special intimate event that requires ‘grandeur!’

THE SUGAR FARM

This is the ‘real deal’; a working cane farm with a true blue shed full of historic tractors and harvesters. Suitable for seated dinners up to 300 pax or casual events up to 500 pax. 10 minutes north of Cairns with elevated views over cane fields to the lush mountains beyond, this venue is perfect for those events wanting a real North Queensland experience.

TANKS ART CENTRE

Historic WW2 Oil Bunkers located in well-maintained grounds with new amenities, these 3 ‘tanks’ all suit differing groups and themes. Best suited to the cooler months for dinners up to 300 pax or perfect for roaming stand up cocktail functions up to 1000 pax. Enjoy this space for the uniqueness it naturally portrays, teamed with stalls serving cuisine from around the world – excellent conference welcome venue to introduce guest into another side of Cairns.

BOTANIC GARDENS & CENTENARY LAKES

A Tropical Paradise,
New access to the beautiful Cairns Botanic Gardens has been granted for business events. An extensive lawn area surrounded by an amazing array of plants and trees creates the perfect
environment for conference welcome events. Ideally situated just 10 minutes from the CBD with coach access direct to the event space. Adjacent to the popular Tanks Art Centre, wet weather back up, tech support, lighting and AV is all on hand. Suitable for groups from 50 to 500 guests. Ochre Restaurant and Catering has developed with approval by Cairns Regional Council exclusive use of the gardens, available throughout the year. This amazing venue matched with the finest local produce and personalised service, is the new ‘in venue’ for 2015 and beyond.

CAIRNS REGIONAL GALLERY

Dine amongst art works on the second floor of this wonderfully appointed gallery space, with balconies overlooking busy Shields street right in the heart of Cairns.
This venue suits cocktail parties up to 120 pax or dinners to 70 pax. Air-conditioned to beat the summer heat, this venue offers great convenience with guests being able to walk from the major hotels.

BALI HAI

An idyllic Daintree Rainforest hideaway where every room looks up into the Daintree Mountains with breathtakingly dramatic views of Mt Demi (1021m).
Your own 80 acres of paradise. It is all about water, from the stunning wet edge pool and sunken baths to the swimming holes and rapids in the pristine river.
Here, your senses are stimulated, luxury surrounds you and time stands still.

SUGAR WHARF – PORT DOUGLAS

Perched on the Coral Sea, overlooking the mountains of the Daintree this historic wharf makes a perfect venue with indoor and outdoor options. Close to rex smeal park and St Mary’s Chapel it make an ideal wedding reception venue. Affordable venue hire and a variety of theme and lighting options to enhance the wharf building are available.

CAIRNS ESPLANADE LAGOON

This newly developed area located in the hub of Cairns on the edge of the water front.
With two areas that suit groups between 20 and 600 for sit down events or cocktail party’s.
Convieniently located within walking distance of all major hotels, underground services in place which will assist in providing full scale themed events.

REX SMEAL PARK – PORT DOUGLAS

Possibly the best outlook in north Queensland this large park offers an
ideal wedding and event venue.
Sunset views across the bay to mountain ranges beyond, the grass area bordered by coconut palms. Conveniently located within walking distance of St Mary Chapel and central Pt Douglas it makes transfers easy.
With power and facilities this quiet park suits groups from 20 to 2000.

LALOLI

Located in the beautiful Little Mulgrave Valley on Roos rd- 32minutes from Cairns, LALOLI is a garden of love and laughter, an exclusive and private, traditional family garden that is simply perfect for romantic garden weddings or other events. Surrounded by rivers and mountain ranges, LALOLI is a garden of intimate enchantment and romance, a uniquely special place.

Various options for your ceremony, Post ceremony and Reception. Several different area’s to suit your style including a reception on the Western Lawn with mountain views or the authentic Sugar Shed- a great option for wet weather.

ELLIS BEACH YACHT CLUB

30 minutes from Cairns; Palm fringed with grass running down to the beach.
Coconut cocktails to start will create a fantastic tropical theme. This can be carried through the menu with use of plenty of local seafood and tropical fruits.
Theming could include Island hut bar, and each table under individual tents with fronds and bamboo coverings.– themed table and chairs . Lighting of the waterfront is achievable, sounds of the ocean, starry night! etc.
The entertainment could be kept formal or we could mix into Pacific Islander tunes.

SKYPARK BY AJ HACKETT

CAIRNS SHOWGROUND PAVILION – FRED MOULE PAVILION

Cairns largest indoor all weather venue. This space is versatile and can suit groups of 300 to 1400, with loads of power, amenities and kitchen facilities; this is a great hall for large conference dinners. Only 5 minutes from Cairns, transfers can be completed quickly for large groups. Outside there are large reception/welcome areas; this venue is an affordable and readily available off site choice. Themeing is easy with extensive rigging points, concrete floor and large doorways for vehicle access.

RINGERS REST

Just 10 minutes from Mareeba, 45 minutes from Cairns
Exclusive venue in a secluded location, Spacious slab tables & bench seating, Self-catering kitchen with large BBQ, Large lawn area, Complete access for the disabled, “The Hitchin’ Rail” mobile bush wedding chapel, Horse & Sulky hire, BYO Premises, Camping available upon request.

EAST BEDARRA ISLAND RETREAT

There is something really magical about being married and honeymooning on a private island, East Bedarra Island Retreat offer guests a very rare absolute waterfront location and are able to cater for small weddings up to 36 guests.
This location is perfect for couples wanting something intimate with the romance of palm fringed, white sandy beaches, the sounds of the ocean and everywhere you look is a postcard photo.

Alight at Skyrail or Kuranda scenic rail and metres away is the Barron Riverfront parklands. This meandering river side park offers a range of locations, ideal for lunch functions and corporate events.
Majestic paper bark trees offer shade and the cool waters of the river keep the temperature mild. Suits groups from 10 to 300 for a wide range of catering including long lunch’s and market stall dinners.

THE BILLABONG

‘The Billabong’ is a spectacular events venue set against Kuranda’s tropical rainforest, with an outlook to the tranquil lagoon and beautiful eucalypts.
Tucked away on 165 acres of private property, ‘The Billabong’ boasts a magnificent wooden bar, open-air deck and custom built dance floor. The surrounding parkland offers additional entertainment space in a quintessentially Australian setting.
For the extra “wow” factor of any event, ‘The Billabong’ offers 4WD Hummer Thrill Rides to discover the wonders of the rainforest by day or night.
